Going back and forth from Kings of Leon to Modest Mouse, I hate the fact that I am hopelessly devoted to music but have been graced with genes that give me nothing in the skills needed to make music. I wonder if there is just so many skills sets that you’re able to create, maintain and nurture throughout life. Music, intelligence, sense of humor, a discriminating eye, language, writing etc…The really good ones like DaVinci could have a virtual golf bag full of “skill sets” the man could do fucking anything he wanted. Other people might only focus on a few key skill sets, Music is one that is probably all consuming, Beethoven even after being deaf could compose (I think its him, if not oh well). Benjamin Franklin comes to mind, other than collecting some STDs in France the man lived an amazingly full life. He could think outside of the parameters other people around him were set in. Many of the Founding Fathers had an extraordinary ability to see past the bullshit and realize “hey, fuck Britain” I might have dumbed that down a little bit, but hopefully you get what I’m jiving at. Tiger Woods might kick ass in golf but can’t take a joke, or get a joke. Although he seems likes one of those guys who are awesome across the board. I didn’t get music (which I firmly believe I should have) I didn’t get that innate athletic ability, or at least I didn’t do my part to feed the skill, instead I fed myself. That’s on me. I guess I got cooking, bullshitting, and humor. I’ll take those, I’m sure there are some people who only received some shitty skill sets. Good at sewing, strong flat feet, naturally un-hairy, not afraid of the dark etc. But there have got to be some fucking kickass skill sets. I’m happy with humor while someone out there has great hair that will never fall out, naturally athletic, huge cock, music genius, and delicate hands. Damn, I wish I would have spent more time using lotion on my hands. Hand model, fuck what a gig!?!?
